The new smartphone Xperia E4 from Sony has just been announced by the Japanese firm. As rumors left to imply, this mid-range smartphone comes with a large 5-inch display, and a battery of substantially the same size, allowing for a smartphone that claims not need to be recharged every night. Indeed, the 2300 mAh battery should provide the smartphone battery life of 29 days in standby mode, or a little more than 12 hours during a voice conversation.
Of course, in the real world things are very different – the use, signal strength, and settings can all impact the battery performance – but Sony always said that we will have two days of autonomy on the Xperia E4 before it needs recharging. There is also the Endurance mode that is available, which will enable our smartphone to keep alive if we really need it.
Despite the large size of the display, we’ll have to be ready to compromise on the resolution in exchange for this magnificent autonomy. Indeed, it is only of 960 x 540 pixels, instead of 720p or 1080p. Not so terrible, and you might notice a certain raster when you look closely at the IPS LCD display. The processor of Xperia E4 is a MediaTek MT6582 chipset. It is a quad-core chip pulsated at 1.3GHz, coupled with 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage. Fortunately, there is a slot for a micro SD card to increase this to 32 GB.
There are two cameras. A 2-megapixel front camera above the screen that does not necessarily meet the fans of selfies and a 5-megapixel sensor with autofocus embedded on the back cover. This allows 1080p video recording, and it has an HDR mode, an LED flash, and various applications of Sony to play on the rendering quality. Android 4.4.4 KitKat is installed with a new application called PartyShare, where a connection to a Wi-Fi Direct allows friends to share music and photos from smartphone. Finally, the Xperia E4 will connect to 3G HSPA+ networks.
Sony has not confirmed where the E4 Xperia will be put up for sale, but only that it will be available in mid-February. It will be sold in black or white, with single or dual SIM.
