We all know well that Sony is one of the most fervent manufacturers in mobile phones. Their optical and sensors always are the best on the market, not surprisingly, most manufacturers (like Apple or Samsung) look to them.
However, with the new Nokia Lumia 1020 and Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom already on the market, it seems that Sony has fallen a little behind with the 13 megapixels found in the Exmor R of the Xperia Z, so we are already preparing the new Sony Xperia Honami and Xperia Honami Mini, which incorporated as a distinguishing feature 20 megapixel camera that looks like it will be talking about.
As far as hardware is concerned, it seems that both the Sony Xperia Honami as the Xperia Honami Mini incorporate a SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 to 2.3 GHz, 2GB RAM, 20.7 megapixel camera, 16GB internal memory and 2,400 mAh battery, the only difference between both the screen, which in the case of Sony Xperia Honami is 5 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) while the Sony Xperia Honami Mini will be 4.3-inch HD (1280 x 720). That is, Sony have not done as Samsung and HTC, but its mini version keeps high-end specifications and only cut in size.
The camera of the Sony Xperia Honami and Honami Mini, apart from having support software behind that pretty well, shall consist of a 20.7 megapixel sensor, f/2.0 aperture and a focal length of 5mm.
Both smartphones, in theory, reach the market next quarter and would be presented at IFA 2013, where Sony has already cited the means to make a great presentation. It certainly seems that this year’s IFA is one of the most interesting for the mobile phone world, since many of the greats (Sony, Samsung and HTC) especially seems that they will reveal new devices in the event.
