I previously posted the Rumour about this model and some leaked shots of it, but now it's been confirmed - it's called the INNOV8 i8510 (read that innovate i8510). From the looks of it most of the previously listed features are there and some new features like it's DLNA compatible, has Divx, H.264 and WMA support and includes DNSe (Digital Natural Sound Engine) and HSDPA support for 7.2Mbps. Reading the Korean press release ( I know Korean - yeah shit damn!) it's been chosen by Samsung to be the official phone in celebration of Samsung sponsoring the World Cyber Games 2008.
This isn't concrete but it sure is exciting looking at the specs. The Samsung i8510 looks like a monster of a device with high end features like 8 Mega pixel camera with Xenon flash, up to 16GB internal memory, 120fps video qvga (presuming it's video recording capability) and Divx Support all running on S60 OS.
Just got the latest e-mail from O2 on the iPhone 3G availability - pre order now! Yes, O2 are taking pre-orders and say if successful and in stock will deliver by 11th July.
What's most interesting about this is the fact the handset will be delivered to your home, does this mean you can activate it at home, or will it come activated from O2?
Whatever the outcome, I'm off to pre-order mine!
EDIT: Upon attempting to pre-order, I have the following problem, looks like O2 can't cope with? Typical.
Good news for T-Mobile UK (that includes me) and specifically London based customers. T-Mobile has just announced it has increased the upload speeds by 4x and upgraded it's download speeds to HSUPA (7.2Mbs) on their 3G network.
It also states it's cutting data roaming charges in Europe by 80%, down to £1.50 MB in order to drive data usage across it's network users. Good news following the recent EU recommendations.
T-Mobile UK chief executive Jim Hyde said: "Mobile Broadband has come of age. Today, 25 per cent of new contract customers are signing up and we expect to quadruple our user base in 2008."
The Olympics in Beijing haven't even started yet but already the Russian Olympic team has gold! Surely a scandal of sorts! Well not quite!
Samsung will be releasing a special Gold plated Samsung D780 DuoS Gold Plated Edition in time to utilize the Olympics in China! This will be the Official Russian Team Phone. There is no pricing details but we do know the featured specifications for it:
2 SIM card slots,
2 megapixel camera,
2.1-inch QVGA screen,
Bluetooth support,
FM Radio,
microSD memory card slot
1200 mAh battery
Will this be the only gold the Russians get at the Olympics? I highly doubt it, expect them to get tons of it!
Europe's Telecoms watchdog published guidelines to reduce the cost of messages, internet use and calls by 2011. The European Union expects terms to be agreed to cut the cost and unify cheaper calls across the EU, failure to do so could mean the EU would implement legislation which could see laws enforced.
It's about time this happened, I seriously doubt it actually costs that much to make a call, send a text or browse the internet across Europe, and it seems operators are pricing unnecessarily to increase profits.
Currently, 27 national authorities regulate fees charged by an operator for handling calls from another.
Brussels said consumers ended up losing out because of variations in cross-border fees.
Operators have until 2011 to abide by the new regulations, which the commission estimated would make calls 70% cheaper.
As of yet there hasn't been an agreement reached, let's hope they see common sense and agree to it.
Now you see it and now you don't! O2 pulls of a great little magic trick by revealing prices and plans for the Pay & Go iPhone 3G, but then removes them suddenly without any explanation? I'm thinking someone may have made a bubu?
"The new 3G 8GB iPhone for Pay & Go will be available for £299.99 and 16GB for £359.99,"
Anyhoo, luckily the internet is wiser than that, see price plans below.

The first hands on pictures of the new iPhone 3G have been circulated.
Both Laptop Mag and iLounge have done some reviews on the device. Some simple tests like 3G speeds and build are mentioned, highlights from both websites respectively below:
Speedy Browsing After checking out the new hardware, it was time to put the 3G to the test. It took about two seconds to transition from Wi-Fi to the 3G network. I tested out the speeds on three sites: It took the phone 4 seconds to load www.laptopmag.com, 2 seconds to load cnn.com; 3 seconds to load www.nytimes.com. Pretty damn speedy.
Swift GPS Connection I couldn’t get the best handle on the GPS here in the convention center. But I was able to bring up a map of the San Fran area. According to an Apple rep, turn-by-turn directions will be available through the Maps program. Above the map was a button to find “current location.”
Unlike the original iPhone, which has proved much more resilient to the sorts of scratches and scuffs that plague iPods, the iPhone 3G’s shell is indeed just glossy plastic with a thin layer of clear coating. It’s not ceramic, as some might have guessed, and not covered in a magic material that won’t scuff: as a result, you can expect to see marks similar to the ones on first-generation iPod nanos and fifth-generation iPods, all over again. The black version, as shown here, picks up fingerprints and smudges at an impressive rate; we wish we’d been able to take some pictures without the smudges. Ironically, the white plastic color that Apple discontinued for iPods may wind up being the most attractive color for new iPhones, especially after spending a few days in a pocket or purse.
Mobile Today revealed a £100 price cut on the 8GB version of the Apple iPhone. The "promotional" price will come in effect from Wednesday 16th April running until 1 June, coincidently the rumoured date the new iPhone2 is slated to be announced/released. An O2 spokesman said: 'The special offer will make the iPhone an unbeatable proposition in the market, helping O2 to further gain market share.'
Unlucky for those wanting the 16GB version, it is not included in this promotional price drop.
This is evidently clear that stores are trying to get rid of stock which most likely will become redundant upon release of the iPhone2, unless of course you are a sucker and still opt to pay for that!
With all the recent rumours of Nokia's "iPhone killer" being touted around the internet, my head was spinning. We knew the code name was Tube (for some strange reason) but now the rumours have a picture to it! Yes, Symbian-Freak has revealed pictures of the so called "Tube" phone from Nokia. Hinting that the device's real name is something different to Tube (thank heavens), he also reveals it will not be an N Series device. This I expected as much. The brief specs for the moment are as follows:
3"-3.5" (16:9) touch screen (No multi-touch, but has tactile feedback) Camera with autofocus Quad Band Bluetooth, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, WLAN Built in GPS supporting Geotagging
Not surprisingly as it's been covered all over the internet, but it is now official, the iPhone is heading to Ireland and exclusively available on O2 only. So there you go Irish residents you can also join the thousands of others giving full access to their wallets to Apple. Yes, not will you be tied to a 18 month contract, paying a minimum of 810 Euros for your tariff alone, but add the prices of the 8GB model (399 Euros) or the 16GB (499 Euros) and your minimum spend on this pretty much average but "revolutionary device" will total 1,209 Euros or 1,309 respectively.
I don't know about you but I sure as hell am going to fly over there just to get one, because I do love getting sh***ed from behind.
Maximys over at the SEMC Blog has released a list of the new touted handsets from Sony Ericsson, which includes the new C and G series and the Xperia X1. Looking at the source which is hosted on the SonyEricsson.com domain we can see the X1 is touted for a 10-02-09 release date. This is far from the Q2 2008 date, which Sony Ericsson representatives told the press at Mobile World Congress 2008.
If this information is true and the release date is in fact correct, personally the hype that surrounded the Xperia X1 would most likely have died down leaving many potential buyers looking elsewhere (including myself). Is this the effect of releasing a model with Microsoft, who are notorious for running into delays? Or is this due to the X1 having some more modifications being done (having Windows Mobile 6.5 implanted) or just plain complacency on Sony Ericsson's part? All in all it probably doesn't matter what it is, as most who were anticipating this great handset would have moved onto something different (most likely a Nokia N series).
Personally I hope it will be released in time for Xmas as that is when I planned to get it, but if it doesn't, well that's just Sony Ericsson shooting themselves in the foot, as this is the greatest opportunity to gain some market share on Nokia and perhaps attain 2nd place from the suicidal Motorola.
(Now where is that N82 WOMWorld are sending me...)
Another day and another set of pics of the mysterious Sony Ericsson slider phone appears. Personally I'm not sure what the big fuss is about. Looking at the pictures it sports a 1.3Megapixel camera, the design is somewhat debatable and generally it doesn't even interest me in the least.
Honestly, these days I think leaked pictures need to be put into perspective, unimpressive pictures and handsets being revealed is plain and simple boring, let's not get it all snowballing out of control for no apparent reason. There is nothing remotely interesting about this leaked slider.
I logged into the forum today to see that Mobile9 has reached in excess of 1.5 Million registered & confirmed members. What does that mean? Mobile9 has 1.5 million confirmed members as opposed to just registered (that number is much bigger).
Whilst I'm on the subject of facts and numbers, something I noticed from our gallery stats;
Files: 321,100
Downloads: 2,200,000,000 (that is the correct number of 0's)

Now that's a lot of numbers mind. Here's to some virtual Champagne being toasted! *clink*
