Good news for fans of Nexus smartphones (very appreciated by just having layer of customization and offer a “pure” Android experience) and we are already known many details of upcoming phones Nexus Marlin and Nexus Sailfish , probably manufactured in collaboration with the HTC brand.

Nexus Marlin and Nexus Sailfish

Following the success of Nexus 6P manufactured by Huawei and Nexus 5X put on sale by LG, it seems that the renewal of the line of Nexus will also come this time with two terminals simultaneously.

Some features of the new Nexus smartphones
Both the Nexus Marlin and Nexus Sailfish will have 13 megapixel main camera and 8-megapixel front-facing camera, and have the same processor (probably the Snapdragon 820 or Snapdragon 821), 4 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage, expandable with external microSD card.

In terms of design, it is very likely that the two models have a very similar aesthetic, with the rear of crystal in two tones (black and gray). The Nexus Marlin incorporated in addition a metal frame, while the Nexus Sailfish would be plastic.

It is expected that the two models are officially released in September or October. And the launch could come with surprise: it is likely to disappear the name Nexus and terminals are marketed only with the Google logo.

Many commonalities between the two terminals
The phone Nexus Marlin will have a 5.5-inch screen that could be 2K resolution, but will have to wait for more data to confirm this. It is expected that there are no physical or capacitive buttons on the front, but the phone will have a circular fingerprint sensor on the back.

The model Nexus Sailfish have a virtually identical design, although plastic frame instead of metal. The screen would be 5.2 inch with a FullHD resolution.

As for the battery, the Nexus Marlin will incorporate 3450 mAh, while the Sailfish be placed closer to the 3000 mAh.

Regarding the hardware, the two models also share almost identical features: a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor although the Nexus Marlin could incorporate the Snapdragon 821 – 4 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage. It is likely that Google also launched versions with 64 GB of storage.

The operating system will be set for the two phones, Android 7.0 Nougat.

Release date and pricing
The two models have already received their technical certifications, which is expected to be launched very soon (could even in September).

Given the technical specifications of the new Nexus smartphones, and considering the previous models, it can be assumed that in Europe would be sold at a price similar to the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X. These are some indicative quantities:

  • Around 650 euro for the Nexus Marlin of 32 GB. In the case that went on sale a model of 64 GB, the price could be around 700 euro.
  • The Nexus Sailfish could go on sale for around 500 to 520 euros with 32 GB internal storage.
