Three MiFi v2 - Back To Black

MiFi-Front

Driven in a rickshaw to demonstrate the current Three MiFi's capabilities through some of London's busiest streets, we finally made it to the location where the new Three MiFi was revealed. I personally feel it's a big improvement on it's predecessor and looks pretty sweet. So what do we know about the new Three MiFi? If you've been following my live Tweets from the event or the #ThreeMifi hashtag on Twitter you would know pretty much everything. For those that didn't, here's the low-down.
MiFi-BackMiFis
  • There are obvious cosmetic changes; there is an obvious Black and Silver combo, which is more contemporary and looks very sleek.
  • OLED screen - This is a huge improvement for many reasons. Better battery life, more notifications and less confusing lights, also more information on display, i.e. data usage, messages etc. It does have a mirror front, which is VERY reflective. Perhaps can be used to do make-up and hair for the vein?
  • Less Buttons - This is a significant feature, which makes operating the device much easier whilst there is a new function, which keeps the power light on whilst the device is active. This is gives a better notification that it's on and working.
  • Battery - whilst there is no actual difference in the battery itself there has been optimisation to make it more efficient, charge quicker and whilst in usage via USB.
  • Dashboard - Improvements to the dashboard have been made to support Macs - there is a specific UI for it. It now supports all the major OS out there; Windows, Mac and Linux respectively.
The other great thing is the fact the new version will be in the shops from 2nd July and will not cost extra than the current version. Unfortunately there won't be any sort of upgrade options, but it might be worth trying to haggle and part exchange your old ones. This is not a guarantee and may vary from outlet to outlet.

Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on a unit nearer to release for a full hands on and performance review. Stay subscribed and keep your eyes peeled.
