Engadget has uncovered a story on Danish phone site
Mobil, who claim they have uncovered details about Sony Ericsson's latest Xperia handset which could be running on the Android platform.
We all know the
Xperia X1 was unveiled to be running on Windows Mobile 6.1, which surprised many at the time. In the end it was basically a HTC handset running Windows Mobile with Sony Ericsson branding and custom UI, but if this latest Xperia handset happens to run on Android it will be a major development for
Sony Ericsson as many hardcore SE fans will likely go out and purchase it.

The phone is based on the Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon platform, that enables processor speeds up to 1 GHz, and HSPA-speeds up to 7.2 Mbps. This platform will also sport great 3D graphics capabilities.
The phone's built-in camera is an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus. There's also a 3.5 mm jack connector as well as a mini-USB connector at the top of the phone. The touch screen seems to be quite large, but as of yet there is no specific information about its size.
If Sony Ericsson's fortunes and profits are to take a turn for the better, it will probably be down to handsets like this which would be responsible. For now Android is the future it seems as
Samsung and
HTC seem to be concentrating on that particular market also.
