Share Online 4.0 - Available But Limited

shareonline_4

Nokia Beta Labs has announced the availability of Share Online 4.0 which is currently available only for some S60 3rd Edition Fp2 devices. As stated by the Share Online Webpage this version looks to be only coming to FP2 devices:
Share Online 4.0 works only with devices running S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 devices. The new features in Share Online 4.0 require technical enablers that are not present in previous versions of S60.

The following devices are currently supported in this beta: Nokia N96, 6220 Classic, 6210 Navigator, and 5320 XpressMusic.

Support for the following devices will be added in the following weeks: N78, N79, N85
So if you are running an FP1 device, it does not look like it will become available for you, according to the post it has something to do with "enablers" in the new FP2 compatible devices. This shows yet again the inconsistency in the Nokia handsets.

The latest version of Share Online 4.0 has the following feature:
  • Improved upload/download experience. You don’t need to wait for your photos to be uploaded before uploading the next one. You can refresh your feeds, add comments, or even exit the application while the uploading is still in progress.
  • Outbox. You can see a list of pending uploads, as well as review, cancel or retry specific uploads. You can also use the Outbox to keep track of which photos and videos you have already uploaded.
  • Economic sharing. If you don’t have an affordable data plan, you can disable the use of cellular data in the Share Online settings, and queue your photos and videos to be uploaded as soon as a free WLAN connection is available. In addition, there are data counters available, in case you want to keep track of your cellular data usage.
  • Active standby indicators. Your outbox info is visible and accessible in your active standby screen. If you prefer, you can also remove these indicators.
If you are running an FP2 compatible device you can visit the Nokia Beta Labs blogpost or the Share Online 4.0 web page to download and test the software out. Do remember, this is a Beta!

I can't still find the advantages about using this software.. What is it about??! All I just do is exchanging stuff between my device and my PC, and i do that through bluetooth connection/Nokia PC Suite... isn't this way much simple and faster than Ovi software?!!

@Chaplin - Share online Let's you keep up to date with your Flickr and Ovi accounts. It also lets you send pictures taken with your handset directly to Flickr / OVI. The ability to comment, follow and add users is possible with this.
